JR XG7 DMSS
from JR
2.4GHz Radio Control System with Built-In Telemetry
What is DMSS?
Dual Modulation Spectrum System is JR’s own 2.4GHz protocol. Although a late entry to the 2.4 market, DMSS can be considered as the truly ‘state of the art’ method of providing radio control for model use. And since JR have not rushed their own 2.4 protocol into production they have been able to incorporate the very latest techniques for ‘Wideband Data Transmission’ into the next generation of JR radio control sets.
DMSS combines the best features of Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) and Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS) protocols. FHSS is great for avoiding interference and DSSS offers high response. JR DMSS combines both these attributes, having both frequency hopping and high response.
DMSS also offers ‘Two-Way Communication’ (telemetry) with receiver voltage monitoring as standard. Other types of sensor are due soon, with Temperature and RPM sensors being the next types to become available from JR. However, probably the most important thing about JR DMSS is that it is 100% pure JR, with no involvement from any other outside company. This means that JR are back in full control of product development, so they can now concentrate on doing what they do best – making what are probably the world’s best quality radio control systems.
How can I get DMSS?
DMSS is being built into the next generation of JR radio control sets. DMSS sets can be differentiated from earlier JR 2.4 sets by looking for the XG series nomenclature.
The first XG series radio will be the XG7 seven-channel system, which is supplied with an RG831 receiver complete with an embedded Receiver Voltage sensor.
Will I be able to use DSM2 receivers with my MacGregor/JR DMSS transmitter?
No. JR DMSS is a completely new 2.4 protocol and so DMSS transmitters will not work with earlier 2.4 receivers from either JR or other manufacturers.
This stylish transmitter is based on JR’s well-proven X2720 35MHz radio, but with the addition of a scroll bar interface and telemetry. It offers aircraft and helicopter set-ups. A new feature in helicopter mode is the ability to resequence the transmission of the cyclic signals on channels 2, 3 and 6, without waiting for channels 4 and 5 to be processed. This speeds up cyclic response when the XG7 is used for fast 3D flying.
As standard the XG7’s telemetry system monitors receiver battery voltage. When the receiver battery reaches a pre-set level the transmitter will sound a warning. The receiver battery voltage is also shown on the transmitter’s large, clear display.
Additional telemetry sensors for RPM and temperature measurement will be available.
Each set will come supplied with 1500 mAh Ni-MH transmitter and receiver batteries and a genuine JR charger, now fitted with a UK style 3-pin plug. The charger and receiver battery has a temperature sensor, which will automatically stop the charge once the battery is full.
There is also a servo test mode, where the servos’ neutral positions can be adjusted via the transmitter.
Each XG7 will be supplied with one of JR’s new eight channel DMSS receivers, fitted with a remote antenna. A heavy-duty switch harness and bind plug will also be included.
